Runtime configuration is separate from the guest
process.env API.
| Variable | Purpose |
|---|---|
ELIDE_HOME | Override Elide’s home directory. |
ELIDE_LOG | Logging configuration. |
ELIDE_ERROR_FORMAT | Error-rendering selection where supported. |
ELIDE_CRASH_ROOT | Native crash-report storage root. |
ELIDE_KOTLINC_ABI_STRIP | Kotlin compiler ABI-stripping mode. |
ELIDE_TRANSPORT_V2 | Select the experimental v2 transport (see --transport=v2) when no --transport flag is given. |
ELIDE_NETTY_ALLOCATOR | Select auto (default), native, or netty buffer allocation independently of sockets. auto uses native allocation when v2 is requested, including compatibility fallback; otherwise it keeps Netty allocation. The elide.netty.allocator system property takes precedence. |
ELIDE_TRANSPORT_V2_FORCE | Set to true to force v2 sockets and native HTTP for testing, overriding transport/backend choices and disabling compatibility fallback. Also accepts 1, yes, and on, ignoring case and surrounding whitespace. |
ELIDE_TRANSPORT_V2_DRIVER | Force the v2 driver: auto, polling (epoll/kqueue), io_uring, or iocp. |
ELIDE_HTTP_FALLBACK | Set to v1 to allow pre-connection HTTP fallback for known v2 capability gaps, or none (default) for strict selection. The elide.http.fallback system property takes precedence. |
ELIDE_TRANSPORT_V2_LIBRARY | JVM mode: locate the native transport/allocator shared library, as an alternative to elide.transport.v2.library. |
NODE_TLS_REJECT_UNAUTHORIZED | Set to 0 to disable TLS certificate validation for js fetch. More on Node.js docs |
NODE_USE_SYSTEM_CA | Set to 1 to add system X.509 trust store for js fetch. More on Node.js docs |
NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS | Set to a path of .pem X.509 certificate to be added to trust store for js fetch. More on Node.js docs |
ELIDE_SYS_TMP and ELIDE_LOCALE are recognized names, but in 1.5 setting
them does not change os.tmpdir(), navigator.language, or the locale
reported by elide info. Do not depend on them as overrides.
Older references listed ELIDE_EDITOR, ELIDE_BAZEL,
ELIDE_ENGINE_LOG, and ELIDE_LOG_STYLE; these are not part of the
documented 1.5 runtime interface.
Uncaught guest exceptions are printed to the terminal and exit non-zero. They do not produce Markdown crash reports.
Update behavior belongs to the Releases guide, not the runtime
environment contract. elide upgrade --check checks without applying an
update.
